SALARY : Grade 1: R907 617 per annum

Grade 2: R1 055 292 per annum

CENTRE : Lentegeur Hospital

REQUIREMENTS : Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows for the

required registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a

Clinical Psychologist. Registration with a professional council: Registration with

the HPCSA as a Clinical Psychologist. Experience: Grade 1: None after

registration as with the HPCSA as a Psychologist in respect of RSA qualified

employees. 1 Year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a

Psychologist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not

required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 2:

A minimum of 8 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as

Psychologist in respect of RSA qualified employees. Minimum of 9 years

relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as Psychologist in

respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform

Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 3: A minimum of 16

years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as Psychologist in

respect of RSA qualified employees. A minimum of 17 years relevant

experience after registration with the HPCSA as Psychologist in respect of

foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community

Service, as required in South Africa. Inherent requirement of the job:

Willingness to perform after hour duties, including weekends and Public

Holidays as operational needs so demand. Competencies (knowledge/skills):

Appropriate experience with mental health care users in both in and outpatient

clinical settings and management of such services. Design and conduct

research, academic teaching, training and supervision of interns and

community service clinical psychologists. The ability to assess, diagnose, and

treat psychological disorders, communicate effectively, work ethically, think

critically, and provide culturally sensitive care.

evaluate a comprehensive psychological service to mental health care users

at Lentegeur Hospital. Train and supervise intern clinical psychologists in line

with HPCSA guidelines. Provide consultation to other health professionals.

Provide outreach to strengthening the health system with the catchment area.

-Fully participate in and attend academic activities of the associated

department of psychiatry and mental health (including research, teaching and

social responsiveness activities related to joint appointments).
