SALARY : Grade 1: R413 121 per annum

Grade 2: R482 499 per annum

Grade 3: R564 822 per annum

CENTRE : Groote Schuur Hospital, Observatory

REQUIREMENTS : Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows

registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a

Clinical Technologist in Reproductive Biology. Registration with a professional

council: Registration with the HPCSA as a Clinical Technologist in

Reproductive Biology. Experience: Grade 1: None after registration with the

HPCSA in Clinical Technology in respect of RSA qualified employees. One-

year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in Clinical

Technology in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required

to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 2: Minimum

of 10 years’ relevant experience after registration with HPCSA in Clinical

Technology in respect of SA qualified employees. Minimum of 11 years’

relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in Clinical Technology in

respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform

Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 3: Minimum of 20

years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in Clinical

Technology in respect of RSA qualified employees. Minimum of 21 years’

relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA in Clinical Technology in

respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform

community service as required in South Africa. Competencies

(knowledge/skills): Computer literacy. Data management. Evidence of

administrative and management systems. Academic development of self and

others. Appropriate clinical experience in assisted reproductive techniques.

Knowledge and appropriate clinical experience in Clinical Reproductive

Biology.

DUTIES : Clinical service provision in the Andrology and Embryology laboratories.

Academic teaching, training and supervision of junior colleagues and other

staff. Participation in academic activities within the laboratory. Administration

and audit of clinical data and laboratory services in the Reproductive Medicine

Unit. Laboratory management.

It will be expected of candidates to be available for selection interviews on a date, time and place as determined by the Department. Kindly note that excess personnel will receive preference. All shortlisted candidates, including the SMS, shall undertake two pre-entry assessments. One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment.
