POST 25/09 : EDUCATIONIST (M+4): ENGLISH AND MATHEMATICS LITERACY REF

REQUIREMENTS : Recognised four (4) year Degree or equivalent qualification in Education,

Specialising in English and Mathematics Literacy. Registration with the South

African Council of Educators. Computer literate. Valid driver’s licence.

Competencies and Attributes: Plan, organise, lead and control, client

orientation and communication, policy implementation, report writing, diversity

management, training and development, service delivery innovation and

creativity, project management, conflict management, facilitation management,

integrity and honesty, knowledge and understanding of public service

management framework, influence and impact, presentation skills, conceptual

skills and conflict management skills.

DUTIES : Facilitate and deliver mathematics and English education programmes to

offenders in support of their academic development, rehabilitation and

successful reintegration into society. Implement and apply departmental

education policies, procedures and curriculum requirements within correctional

facilities. Present mathematics lessons in accordance with approved

educational standards and curriculum frameworks. Assess progress through

appropriate evaluation methods, monitor academic performance and maintain

accurate records. Promote numeracy, problem-solving and analytical skills

while ensuring adherence to established education and training service

standards. Contribute to the creation of a conducive learning environment that

supports effective teaching and learning and encourages lifelong learning and

personal development among offenders. Manage human resources, finances

and assets. Manage performance information.
