POST 25/607 : FORENSIC PATHOLOGY OFFICER GRADE 1 TO 2

SALARY : Grade 1: R225 777 per annum

Grade 2: R262 953 per annum

CENTRE : Forensic Pathology Laboratory, Mossel Bay

REQUIREMENTS : Minimum educational qualification: Senior Certificate with having achieved

Mathematics, Life Science and/ or Biology as passed subjects. Experience:

Grade 1: None. Grade 2: 10 year's appropriate experience. Inherent

requirements of the job: Valid Code B/EB driver's license. Ability to interpret

and apply policies. Ability to work under pressure. Ability to work with and lift

corpses, (mutilated, decomposed, infectious viruses, obese). Be willing on

travelling long distances and working standby duties/overtime. Competencies

(knowledge/skills): Ability to communicate clearly and discreetly in person and

writing. Ability to be trained in 4x4 Vehicle handling. Ability to be trained in

photography. Willingness to assist with duties in X-ray room. Willingness to be

trained in Forensic Investigation and Dissection. Willingness to be trained in

Forensic Pathology Business Processes. Ability to achieve and maintain good

interpersonal and working relations with staff and clients. Computer and

software literacy in MS Word and Excel. Will be required to deliver testimony

in court proceedings.

DUTIES : Effective and efficient recovery, storage and processing of deceased. An

effective identification process and release of the deceased, including

management of property. Optimal control of reports and statements during and

after the Forensic Mortuary process. An efficient support service to the

Manager with regard to Corporate and Clinical Governance functions of the

Forensic Pathology Laboratory. An effective Forensic autopsy process and

specimen management rendered in accordance with set standards and

guidelines.

How to apply

Candidates will be subjected to a security clearance prior to appointment. It will be expected of candidates to be available for selection interviews on a date, time and place as determined by the Department. Kindly note that excess personnel will receive preference. One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment.
