REQUIREMENTS : An LLB. For serving prosecutors seeking promotion any appropriate legal

qualification. At least six (6) years post qualification legal experience.

Demonstrable competency in acting Independently, Professionally,

Accountable and with Credibility. Good management skills. Must have the

ability to act independently or within minimum supervision. Proficiency in

prosecuting or litigation, guiding investigation and giving instructions in

complex or more difficult common law and statutory offences in Regional and

District Court. Draft complex charge sheets and complex court documents.

DUTIES : Manage, supervise and conduct prosecutions in the Regional and District

Courts in accordance with applicable legislation, NPA policy directives and

related instructions. Screen dockets, make prosecutorial decisions, guide

investigations, ensure trial readiness and prepare matters for court. Conduct

and manage criminal proceedings, including bail applications, trials, sentence

proceedings and other complex matters. Consult with victims, witnesses,

investigating officers, legal representatives and other stakeholders while

applying a victim-centred approach. Draft and check charge sheets, plea and

sentence agreements, legal opinions, reports, representations and other court

documents. Promote court productivity through case flow management,

stakeholder engagement and appropriate use of statutory mechanisms to

shorten proceedings. Monitor backlog, remand detainee, priority, AFU, money

laundering and other prescribed matters. Manage and verify performance

information, court returns, registers, reports and ECMS/ICMS data to ensure

accuracy and compliance. Identify operational challenges, implement

corrective measures and report on progress. Manage, train, coach, mentor and

guide prosecutors, monitor the quality of their work, assist with performance

management and deal with disciplinary matters where required.
