POST 25/179 : SCIENTIFIC TECHNICIAN (PRODUCTION) GRADE A: ANALYTICAL

SALARY : R407 337 per annum, (OSD)

CENTRE : Dohne Research Station (Stutterheim)

REQUIREMENTS : National Diploma (NQF 6) in Chemistry or Soil Science as recognized by

SAQA. Valid compulsory registration with SACNASP as a Certificated Natural

Scientist. Three (3) years’ post-qualification technical (scientific) experience.

Knowledge of the soils, water, feed, essential oils and plant material analyses;

Relevant understanding of the functioning of Laboratory equipment. Technical

Competencies: Programme and project management. Scientific

methodologies. Research and development. Computer-aided scientific

applications. Knowledge of legal compliance. Technical report writing. Creating

a high-performance culture. Professional judgment. Data analysis. Mentoring.

Computer literacy (MS Word, MS Excel and MS PPT). Generic Competencies:

DUTIES : Analytical analysis of samples (soils, water, feed, essential oils and plant

material) and responding timeously to our clients; Assist in the development of

new analytical procedures. To perform technical scientific analysis and

regulatory functions. Research and development. Human capital development.

Supervise, mentor and guide Laboratory Assistants; Keep up to date with

regard to the applicable regulations, prescripts, policies, procedures,

technologies and new developments to be able to render an efficient and

effective service to our clients.
