REQUIREMENTS : NQF Level 8 qualification in Agriculture as recognized by SAQA. Valid

compulsory registration with SACNASP. At least 3 years of experience in the

field of Extension and Advisory Services. Knowledge of Agriculture Extension

Methodology and Project Planning. Planning and organizing skills. Change

management skills. Conflict management skills. Customer focus and

responsiveness. Communication skills, presentation skills and interpersonal

skills. Proficiency in the MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel). A valid

driver’s license.

DUTIES : Coordinate the implementation of all strategic agricultural and rural

development programs. Render scientific and technical agricultural extension

services to internal and external clients. Coordinate support and development

of research and training activities. Ensure service delivery through appropriate

utilization of ICT tools/ systems. Comply with corporate governance and

planning imperatives. Maintain high work standards through promotion of

teamwork in terms of quality/quantity and timeliness. Work with the supervisor

towards the promotion of sound working relations. Due to the seniority of the

position, be able to initiate technological innovations, promote stakeholder

engagement and be able to transfer knowledge to their peers and promote

sustainable production principles. Responsible for providing reports of their

work to supervisors, whether weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually as

required. Keep abreast of applicable prescripts, policies, procedures,

technologies and new developments to be able to render an efficient and

effective Extension Service. Be able to work with teams towards management

of departmental assets (laptops, cellphones, vehicles, etc.)

Successful candidates will also be subjected to security clearance processes. Where applicable, candidates will be subjected to a skills/ knowledge test. The competency assessment will be testing generic managerial competencies using the mandated DPSA SMS competency assessment tools. Successful candidates will be appointed on a probation period of twelve 12/24 months.
