POST 25/610 : STERILIZATION OPERATOR PRODUCTION

SALARY : R170 226 per annum

CENTRE : Robertson Hospital, Langeberg Sub-district

REQUIREMENTS : Minimum educational qualification: GETC/Grade 9 (Std 7). Experience:

Appropriate experience in Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) within

a hospital environment. Inherent requirement of the job: Willingness to work

overtime when needed. Competencies (knowledge/skills): Knowledge of

decontamination, cleaning and packing and sterilization of surgical

instruments. Understanding of infection prevention and control principles.

Ability to cooperate sterilization equipment (e.g. Autoclaves, washer

disinfectors). Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work

independently and under pressure. Commitment to Batho Ple Principles.

DUTIES : Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, pack and sterilize surgical

instruments and equipment. Operate and monitor sterilization equipment

according to prescribed procedures. Ensure correct labelling, storage,

distribution of sterile items and maintain accurate documentation and

sterilization records. Receiving and sorting of Linen and Distribution and Stock

control. Linnen control and processing clean linen and quality Control and

Storage and Ensure cleanliness CCSD environment. Comply with

Occupational Health and Safety and Infection and prevention and Safety

policies in CSSD. Adhering to Documentation and Communication protocols in

CSSD.
