JOB TITLE                       :    Group Treasury and Compliance Manager

Department                    :    Ares Holdings, Finance

Main purpose                  :    The Group Treasury and Compliance Manager is responsible for the full group treasury function, group internal audit and compliance function, group procurement, group insurance portfolio management and group income tax preparation and submission across all group entities. The role ensures optimal cash and liquidity management, strong compliance governance, efficient procurement processes, robust insurance coverage and accurate statutory tax submissions. This role supports strategic decision‑making and ensures group-wide financial integrity.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITY 1:  GROUP TREASURY MANAGEMENT

  • Oversee daily cash payments and management and liquidity planning across all entities.
  • Support management of banking relationships and group funding structures.
  • Monitor cash flow forecasting accuracy and treasury risk management.
  • Ensure optimal working capital utilisation.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITY 2: GROUP COMPLIANCE & INTERNAL AUDIT

  • Lead internal audit planning and execution across group entities.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and governance requirements.
  • Implement and monitor compliance frameworks and internal controls.
  • Report compliance risks and findings to CFO and Audit Committee.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITY 3: GROUP PROCUREMENT OVERSIGHT

  • Lead group procurement strategy and supplier governance.
  • Ensure cost‑effective sourcing and contract management.
  • Standardise procurement processes and strengthen controls.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITY 4: GROUP TAX COMPLIANCE

  • Prepare and submit group income tax returns to external partner for filing.
  • Ensure full compliance with tax legislation across entities.
  • Maintain tax records and support tax audits.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITY 5: GROUP INSURANCE PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT

  • Manage insurance policies across the group
  • Ensure adequate coverage and renewals
  • Liaise with brokers and insurers
  • Coordinate claims management

 TECHNICAL AND FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES

o   Treasury Management: Strong capability in cash, liquidity, and funding oversight.

o   Compliance & Internal Audit: Governance, risk management and control expertise.

o   Tax Compliance: Knowledge of group‑level statutory tax requirements.

o   Insurance Portfolio Management: Knowledge and experience in insurance portfolio management

o   Internal Controls: Implement and monitor controls across entities.

o   Systems Proficiency: Skilled in ERP/accounting and treasury systems.

o   Procurement Governance: Contract, supplier and sourcing management.

o   Stakeholder Communication: Present financial, compliance and audit insights clearly.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

The minimum education and experience requirements that are required to be considered

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • Professional qualification at advanced level is required (e.g. CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent)

Experience

  • Minimum 5 - 7 years’ progressive finance experience, including:
    • Demonstrated responsibility for treasury or cash management in a multi‑entity environment
    • Involvement in group‑level compliance, audit, or risk management
  • At least 2 – 3 years in a senior finance or specialist management role, with:
    • Direct accountability for complex finance disciplines (treasury, tax, compliance, audit, or risk)
    • Regular interaction with executive leadership and external partners
  • Proven experience in:
    • Cash flow forecasting and liquidity management
    • Supporting or coordinating internal and external audits
    • Managing third‑party relationships (banks, auditors, insurers, tax advisors, procurement vendors)
  • Practical experience working on ERP/accounting and treasury systems in a group environment

Industry Knowledge

  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Treasury management principles (cash, liquidity, working capital, funding risk)
    • Governance, risk, and compliance frameworks
  • Solid understanding of:
    • Group tax compliance, including income tax processes and audit support
    • Internal control environments and regulatory requirements
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Procurement governance and supplier management
    • Corporate insurance structures and claims processes
  • Understanding of how treasury, compliance, and risk management influence:
    • Group financial stability
    • Audit outcomes
    • Executive and Board‑level decision‑making
