Privacy policy
iSebenza is a job listings aggregator. This page explains what information the site collects when you visit, and what it doesn't. It's written in plain language rather than legal boilerplate, because the honest answer is short: we collect almost nothing.
What we collect
iSebenza has no accounts, no login, and no sign-up. We do not collect email addresses, names, CVs, or any other personal information, because there is nowhere on the site to submit them.
The only data recorded is anonymous usage telemetry: when a page is viewed or an "apply" button is clicked, we log that event against a random session identifier generated in your browser. That identifier is not linked to your name, email address, or any other personal detail, and we do not build IP-based identity profiles from it.
Job applications
iSebenza never receives your job application. Every listing links out to the employer's own careers site or application system, and applying happens entirely on the employer's systems, under the employer's own terms. Once you click through, that employer's privacy policy governs — we have no visibility into or control over what they do with your information.
Cookies
iSebenza does not set cookies of its own. Analytics on the site (Cloudflare Web Analytics, below) are cookieless, which is why the site currently shows no cookie-consent banner.
Third parties
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand overall traffic to the site. It runs as a cookieless beacon and does not track you individually across sites. We do not use any other third-party trackers, and we do not sell or share data with advertisers, because advertising is currently switched off (see below).
Advertising is currently off
Ad slots exist in the site's code but are disabled. If advertising is switched on in future, it is likely to introduce third-party advertising cookies. Before that happens, this page will be updated to describe the change and a proper cookie-consent mechanism will be added — advertising will not go live without both.
Where data is hosted
iSebenza runs on a single server located in Johannesburg, South Africa. Database backups run nightly and are kept for 14 days.
Who we share data with
We don't sell or share the anonymous usage data described above with anyone, beyond Cloudflare providing the analytics service itself.
Children
iSebenza is a general job listings site and is not directed at children. Since we don't collect personal information from any visitor, we don't knowingly collect it from children either.
POPIA
South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) is the relevant law here. We're not claiming certification or formal compliance status — but because the site collects no personal information today, there is currently very little personal data for POPIA to protect. If that changes (for example, if we ever add accounts or alerts), this policy will be updated first.
Changes to this policy
If what iSebenza collects changes — most likely when advertising or an account feature is introduced — we'll update this page before the change goes live, not after.
