We are hiring a qualified and experienced Maintenance Fitter at our state of the art Plant in Wadeville, Germiston
Purpose of the job
To ensure the efficient mechanical operation of production equipment by performing proactive and reactive maintenance, installations, and repairs, thus ensuring the minimizing of downtime, and optimized machine performance in accordance with Safety Regulations.
Responsibilities
- Must have experience in Gear boxes repairs including stripping, and assembling.
- Working knowledge of all types of Pumps such as, centrifugal, lobe, paratactic, screw pumps, positive displacement pumps, gear pumps, and high pressure pumps.
- Experienced in removing and refitting motors, conveyors including alignment thereof, valves, compressors, pneumatic cylinders, and hydraulics.
- Previous experience in carrying out maintenance on filter presses.
- Skilled in changing of mechanical seals (all types) including high pressure seals.
- Ability to do fault finding.
- Knowledge of boiler making and welding essential.
- Knowledge of operating conventional Lathe machine would be advantageous.
Requirements
- Minimum N3 Mechanical Engineering qualification.
- Successful completion of Fitter Trade Test.
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant and proven experience as a Fitter in an FMCG/ manufacturing environment.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Must have initiative and problem-solving ability.
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety procedures and protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving ability.
- Be able to work in shifts (12-hour shift).
- Willing and able to work on-site in the Wadeville area.
