About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Credit Analyst to support the assessment and approval of customer finance applications across the iStore retail network.

This role is responsible for reviewing customer credit applications, assessing affordability and financial risk, and making sound credit decisions within agreed turnaround times. As our stores trade seven days a week, the successful candidate must be available to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.

The role requires someone who is analytical, decisive and customer-focused, while ensuring that all applications are assessed responsibly and in line with our credit policies and risk appetite.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Assessment and Decision-Making

  • Review and analyse customer finance applications to determine creditworthiness and affordability.
  • Make independent credit decisions within the required approval limits and service-level timeframes.
  • Interpret credit bureau reports, customer financial information and supporting documentation.
  • Identify potential credit, affordability, fraud and compliance risks.
  • Approve, decline or refer applications in line with company credit policies and risk appetite.
  • Clearly document the rationale for all credit decisions.
  • Recommend appropriate risk-mitigation measures where required.

Customer and Portfolio Risk Management
  • Monitor customer exposure, credit limits, risk ratings and account performance.
  • Conduct regular credit reviews and ensure customer information remains accurate and up to date.
  • Identify changes in customer risk profiles and escalate concerns where necessary.
  • Support the responsible management of the consumer finance portfolio.
  • Assist with the identification of trends, risks and potential areas of concern within the portfolio.

Retail and Business Support
  • Provide efficient credit decision support to iStore teams across the retail network.
  • Work closely with stores and internal stakeholders to resolve application queries and outstanding information.
  • Balance responsible credit decision-making with the need to provide a positive customer experience.
  • Communicate credit decisions clearly and professionally.
  • Provide objective guidance on the risks, benefits and potential implications of applications.
  • Support credit-related projects, reporting, data analysis and forecasting where required.
Qualifications and Experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant qualification in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Risk Management or a related field.
  • Three to five years’ experience in credit analysis, consumer finance, retail finance, banking or a related environment.
  • Experience assessing individual consumer credit applications.
  • Strong understanding of the full credit lifecycle.
  • Experience reading and interpreting credit bureau records.
  • Sound knowledge of affordability assessments, financial analysis and credit risk principles.
  • Experience working within credit policies, approval limits and service-level requirements.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, reporting and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in a high-volume retail or consumer finance environment would be advantageous.
Working hours

This role supports a retail environment and requires flexibility to work:

  • Weekends (Rotation, so not every weekend)
  • Public holidays where required
  • Retail trading hours
  • Shifts or scheduled standby periods, where required
