REQUIREMENTS : Grade 12. A 3-year relevant qualification in Community Development /

Development Studies or Social Science. Computer literacy. A valid driver’s

license. Competencies: Knowledge of human behaviour and social systems.

Understanding community dynamics. Networking and establishing

partnerships. Understanding community development programmes.

Community Development research. Understanding community development

legislation. Planning and organising; Networking skills; Communication (written

and verbal); Project Management; Team leadership. People management.

Conflict management. Project management. Financial Management. Keeping

abreast with new developments in the community development fields to

enhance service delivery. Knowledge of policies and legislative mandates

related to Community Development.

DUTIES : Implementation of legislation and policies to assist with interventions in wards

where people interact with environments to promote self-empowerment. Liaise

and interact with various community development structures to facilitate

collaboration and to establish partnership to ensure sustainability of

development actions within the community. Keep up to date with new

developments in the Community Development field to enhance service

delivery.

Note: All shortlisted candidates for SMS posts will be subjected to a technical exercise and interview. Following the technical exercise and interview, a maximum of three (3) SMS candidates will undergo psychometric assessments to assess cognitive capabilities, behavioural preferences, emotional intelligence, and integrity. NB: All shortlisted candidates including SMS, shall undertake two pre- entry assessments. One must be a practical exercise, and the other must be an Integrity (Ethical Conduct) Assessment. The successful candidate will enter into an annual performance agreement. The candidate annually will be requested to disclose his/her financial interest.
