POST 26/194 : DIRECTOR: RED TAPE REDUCTION REF NO: DEDAT 22/2026
SALARY : R1 317 384 per annum (Level 13), (all-inclusive salary package)
CENTRE : Department of Economic Development and Tourism, Western Cape
Government.
REQUIREMENTS : An undergraduate legal qualification (NQF level 7) as recognised by SAQA;
Minimum of 5 years’ experience middle and/or senior management experience.
Competencies: Strategic Capability and Leadership; Knowledge of
government processes and procedures; Project and Programme Management;
Change Management; People Management and Empowerment; Excellent
written and verbal skills; Advanced knowledge of business development
support measures; and Financial Management.
DUTIES : Experience to identify and address regulatory and legislative blockages that
inhibit economic growth and development; Experience to identify and address
systemic process- and procedurally inefficiencies in business-facing services
that impede business efficiency and growth; Experience to advocate and
create awareness and support capacity-building amongst key stakeholders of
the imperative of red tape reduction; Experience to facilitate the resolution of
red tape enquiries and business complaints; Experience to lead recruitment
aligned to approved staffing plans, and drive employee development through
training, mentoring, and capacity-building initiatives to ensure sustained
service delivery excellence; Experience to oversee performance management,
evaluation, and recognition systems, while promoting sound labour relations,
maintaining discipline, and contributing to workforce, service delivery, and
information resource planning; Experience to lead the Directorate’s strategic
planning and business planning processes by continuously defining and
reviewing its objectives and priorities, monitoring performance against
measurable targets, ensuring legislative compliance and proper record-
keeping, and providing regular, high-level reporting to the Chief Director on
operational and strategic matters; Experience to oversee and direct the
Directorate’s budgeting processes, including preparation of annual and
adjustment budgets, ensuring effective and compliant financial and
procurement management, alignment of expenditure with strategic objectives,
robust contract and risk management, accurate reporting to oversight bodies,
and responsible management of assets.
