REQUIREMENTS : Basic qualification (i.e. Diploma or Degree in Nursing) or recognisable

experience in nursing after registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse.

Applicant must be registered with South Africa Nursing Council. Be Able to

demonstrate understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical

nursing practice. Able to implement elementary functions according to the

scope of practice. Be able to plan and organise own work and that of support

personnel to ensure proper nursing care. Knowledge and understanding of

public service regulatory frameworks. A valid driver’s licence and computer

literacy.

DUTIES : Provision of holistic/comprehensive specialised nursing care. Manage the

utilisation of resources effectively. Provision of educational services. Provision

of effective support to nursing. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to

ensure quality nursing care. Perform clinical nursing practice in accordance

with the scope of practice and nursing standards as determined by the relevant

health facility. Provide emergency care and act as shift leader in unit and be

available to work overtime and to be on standby. Ensure the implementation

of, and adherence to Patients’ Rights Charter and Batho Pele principles.

Manage and administer medication. Coordinate admissions and discharge

planning. Ensure proper record-keeping. Ensure quality services delivery.

Work effectively, cooperatively and amicably with persons of diverse

intellectual, cultural, racial or religious groups.
