POST 26/218 : PROFESSIONAL NURSE GRADE 1 TO 3 (GENERAL NURSING: CLINICAL

SALARY : Grade 1: R337 359 per annum

Grade 2: R411 978 per annum

Grade 3: R495 423 per annum

REQUIREMENTS : Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (i.e.

diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification (R683 plus R254) that

allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a

Professional Nurse. OR A 4 year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174) or

equivalent qualification (R683 plus R1497 or R171 plus R1497) that allows

registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional

Nurse. Registration with a professional council: Registration with the SANC as

a Professional Nurse. Inherent requirements of the job: Willingness to work

outside of normal working hours. Willingness to attend congresses/courses /

workshops. Experience: Grade 1: None after registration as Professional

Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years

appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as

Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. Grade 3: A minimum of

20 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as

Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. Competencies

(knowledge/skills): Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies of the

Department of Health Western Cape. Knowledge of the nursing processes &

procedures as outlined in Nursing Act and the SANC regulations. Skills to plan,

organise & coordinate the service by analysing, problem solving & decision

making. Leadership towards the realisation of strategic goals and objectives of

the nurse training department.

DUTIES : Facilitate the development of learning opportunities for all nursing personnel.

Facilitate the in-service training /updating of skills and competencies as well as

the orientation programme for nurses. Evaluate and assess the competencies

and skills of nursing personnel and personal development. Ensure the

appropriate placement and accompaniment of nursing personnel. Assist with

the effective management and utilisation of physical, material and financial

resources within the nurse training department.
