REQUIREMENTS : Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (i.e.

diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification (R683 plus R254) that

allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a

Professional Nurse. OR A 4-year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174) or

equivalent qualification (R683 plus R1497 or R171 plus R1497) that allows

registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional

Nurse. Registration with a professional council: Registration with the SANC as

a Professional Nurse. Experience: Grade 1: None. Grade 2: A minimum of 10

years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration with the

SANC as Professional Nurse in General Nursing. Grade 3: A minimum of 20

years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration with the

SANC as Professional Nurse in General Nursing. Inherent requirements of the

job: Valid driver’s license (Code B/EB). Must be willing to assist at other

facilities within the Substructure. Willingness to work shifts, night shift and

overtime when required. Competencies (knowledge/skills): Knowledge of

Nursing Care processes and procedures Nursing Act. Problem-solving and

decision-making. Report writing skills. Health promotion and team building.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

DUTIES : Provide direction and supervision for the implementation of quality

comprehensive nursing care within the Primary Health Care context. Maintain

ethical practices within legal and regulatory frameworks. Maintain a

constructive working relationship will all relevant stakeholders of the Primary

Health Care team. Utilize human, material and physical resources efficiently

and effectively. Participate in training programmes and research activities.

Maintain workplace disciplinary of sub-ordinates.

not in possession of the stipulated registration requirements may also apply.

applicable to health professionals who apply for the first time for registration in

a specific category with the relevant council (including individuals who must

It will be expected of candidates to be available for selection interviews on a date, time and place as determined by the Department. Kindly note that excess personnel will receive preference. All shortlisted candidates, including the SMS, shall undertake two pre-entry assessments. One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment.
