TECHNICIAN 
Minimum requirements

  • Degree/ BTech (NQF 7)in Town and Regional Planning with GIS/CAD capability
  • 3 years relevant experience, with at least 1 year of GIS experience post qualification in a relevant discipline.
Added advantage
  • Registration as a candidate planner with SACPLAN will be an added advantage.
  • Evidence of experience with ESRI courses will be an advantage.
  • Experience in computer lab network maintenance
  • Experience in computer software installation and updates

 Summary of Duties:

  • Support the Planning Design modules with CAD and GIS demonstrations and plan preparation.
  • Responsible for the general maintenance of all labs and lecture venues in the Department of Town and Regional Planning, including the GIS/CAD lab.
  • Attend to purchase requisitions in the classrooms and labs.
  • Assist with the resolution of challenges that impact teaching and learning.

The successful candidate must ensure that GIS/CAD is functional for the delivery of lectures. In addition, they are also expected to make sure the new gis/cad software is installed in all the designated labs.
