                                                              MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL

Key Responsibility Areas:


• Provide professional engineering, maintenance, operational and design support, including coordinate of specific administration tasks/ activities associated with the updating and
maintaining records/ information related to completion of core functional responsibility.
• Compilation of tender documentation for compliance with the Municipality’s legal and
contractual requirements.
• Draft report to the relevant committees for project and financial authority
• Attend meetings with the process engineering services, treatment works Operations, M&E
Design, Networks Operations and design Branches, in order to ensure provision of adequate
Mechanical Electrical Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Design and construction requirements.
• Assist the Executive in its submission to the council for inclusion in the councils operating and capital works programme and to monitor and control operational and capital expenditure.
• To ensure optimal utilization and development of staff, maintaining of discipline and ensuring the staff reach         their full potential
• Manages the department responsibilities associated with the development and execution of an Asset Management plan that supports the broader unit’s strategy.
• Disseminates information of the professional aspects of mechanical and electrical operations, maintenance, safety, design and construction concepts and provides reports detaining intervention and outcomes relating to a variety of complex forms of engineering works and maintenance
• Ensure that legislated SHEQ imperatives are adhered to.

Special Conditions:


• Must be physically capable of accessing on daily basis all areas of wastewater and water treatment works, waste and water pump stations
 

Requirements

Essential Requirements: • Bachelor of Technology or Bachelor of Engineering Technology (NQF Level 7) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. • Registered as a Professional Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technologist with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). • Government Certificate of competency Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. • Valid motor vehicle driving license • 5 years relevant post registration experience.
