About this role

Key Responsibility Areas:

  • Develop and guide the implementation of the operating licence strategy, rationalisation plan in line with the NLTTA.
  • Facilitates the implementation of the current open space strategy and development of future open space management strategic plans that ensures the Councils mission, core values, and goals are incorporated into activities and services.
  • Contribute to strategic and final business cases to meet the needs of stakeholders, draw on
    relevant guidelines and generate innovation to support investment decisions.
  • Plans, organises, directs, coordinates, and evaluates plans transport infrastructure projects
    through evidence-based advice and connecting local and global thinking.
  • Determine policy guidelines to integrate safety objectives and alignment to the Road Safety
    Act.
  • Engage with stakeholders regarding future plans for transport planning which may having an
    impact on surrounding business processes.
  • Conceptualise strategic risk mitigation plans relating to road safety and transport planning for the division.
  • Manages the capital and operating budget allocated for projects and operating costs.
  • Manages and enhances the performance of subordinate staff.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 8) in Public Transport or Traffic Engineering or the Built
    Environment or any other related and equivalent qualification.
  • Valid motor vehicle driving license
  • Professional registration with the relevant professional body.
  • 8 years relevant experience in Public Transport or Traffic Engineering or the Built Environment of which 4 years must be at a senior management level.
     

Preferred Requirements:

  • Postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 9) in Public Transport or Traffic Engineering or the Built Environment or any other related and equivalent qualification.
  • 9 years relevant experience in Public Transport or Traffic Engineering or the Built Environment of which 5 years must be at a senior management level.
