Job Description

Private Clients manages over R80 billion globally for high-net-worth individuals, families and entrepreneurs, solving complex investment and wealth challenges across generations.

This is a role for an exceptional early-career Industrial Engineer who wants to apply systems thinking, quantitative modelling and AI to real investment and operating problems — and see their work used in practice.

As our business evolves, we are increasingly leveraging AI, advanced analytics and automation to improve how we invest, manage portfolios, serve clients and run the platform. This is not a support role. You will work on high-impact problems, build tools, improve decision quality, and help scale how the business operates.

Key responsibilities will include amongst others the following:

Application Software Development

• Develop existing applications and contribute to development of new applications by analyzing and identifying areas for modification and improvement. Develop new routine applications to meet customer requirements.

Applications Software Maintenance

• Monitor, identify, and correct more complex software defects to maintain fully functioning applications software.

Design and Conceptualization

• Produce multiple concepts and prototypes to design digital products/services.

Technical Developments Recommendation

• Discuss and recommend technical developments to improve the quality of the website/portal/applications software and supporting infrastructure to better meet users’ needs.

Application Software Road Map

• Contribute to and maintain a roadmap to facilitate application software development and ensure the development work is prioritized in line with business requirements.

Faults Diagnosis and Correction

• Provide fault isolation and resolution to limit and address issues promptly.

Documentation

• Create and maintain complex technical and/or user documentation to a high standard.

Testing Information Technology (IT) Performance

• Design and perform website/applications software tests and respond to user emails to monitor, diagnose, and correct performance issues.

Operational Compliance

• Maintain and renew a deep knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, and ensure own work adheres to required standards.
• Identify, within the team, patterns of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and with relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, taking appropriate action to report and resolve these and escalating issues as appropriate.

Information Security

• Implement required security measures, such as firewalls or message encryption, and provide input on their design, monitoring performance to notify security experts of any problems.

Horizon Scanning

• Explore and develop a detailed understanding of external developments or emerging issues and contribute to the evaluation of their potential impact on, or usefulness to, the organization.

Data Collection and Analysis

• Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.

Analysis of "As Is" and "To Be"

• Document "as is" and "to be" processes and describe the changes required to migrate to the "to be" capability to record accurately the change required.

Technical Database Support

• Design distribution of basic database resources and provide physical modeling and design services to tune database applications for optimum performance.

AI & Intelligent Systems

• Support AI integration across investment research (including screening tools), portfolio management and operations.
• Identify practical AI use cases and help deploy decision-support tool.
• Explore automation that improves efficiency, insight and client outcomes.

Quantitative & Analytical Support

• Support model development and quantitative analysis across investment workstreams.
• Assist with data modelling, forecasting, optimisation and analytical problem-solving.
• Work with financial datasets to generate insight and improve decisions.
• Support modelling initiatives in Bloomberg and related platforms.

Process & Systems Innovation

• Analyse workflows and identify redesign and optimisation opportunities.
• Build dashboards and reporting tools that improve scalability and decision-making.
• Support data-driven decision-making across business and investment functions.

Qualifications and Experience required:

• NQF 7
• Industrial Engineering graduate (Preferred)
• Strong Python capability
• Strong quantitative and analytical ability
• Curious and creative in applying AI and technology to real-world challenges
• Commercially aware, with an interest in financial markets and wealth management
• Highly driven, self-starting and intellectually ambitious
• Comfortable in complex, ambiguous environments
• Always looking for smarter, faster ways of doing things
