Job Description

The Business Analyst within the Group Finance Operations & Enablement team plays a critical role in bridging the gap between Finance and Technology to deliver scalable, efficient, and compliant finance solutions. The incumbent will partner with finance and IT stakeholders to analyse business requirements, optimise processes, support financial systems, and drive the delivery of strategic initiatives across the finance data and reporting landscape.

This role requires strong business analysis expertise, a solid understanding of financial reporting and consolidation processes, and the ability to translate complex business needs into functional solutions. The successful candidate will contribute to system improvements, data integrity, governance, testing, and continuous process enhancement while supporting key finance operations such as month-end and year-end reporting cycles.

Key Result Areas/Outputs:

Requirements & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead the elicitation, analysis, and documentation of business and system requirements across finance and IT stakeholders

  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, and working sessions to define clear, testable requirements

  • Ensure full traceability from requirements through to delivery and testing

  • Act as the primary liaison between Finance and Technology teams

Functional & Process Expertise

  • Drive analysis and solution design across the application lifecycle including:

  • Data integration (source systems to application)

  • Metadata management (entities, accounts, hierarchies)

  • Consolidation processes (intercompany eliminations, journals, FX translation)

  • Reporting outputs and disclosures

  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring system readiness and issue resolution

  • Translate finance requirements into application rules, calculations, and functional specifications

Data & Impact Analysis

  • Analyse financial and operational data to identify trends, risks, and business impacts

  • Assess upstream and downstream impacts of changes across the finance data ecosystem

  • Ensure data integrity, reconciliation, and alignment across systems

Process Improvement & “As Is / To Be” Design

  • Document current and future-state processes across finance and reporting landscapes

  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements aligned to best practice

  • Support continuous improvement of consolidation, reporting, and control processes

Solution Design & Delivery

  • Contribute to solution design, ensuring alignment to architecture, data standards, and governance

  • Define functional specifications for application enhancements and integrations

  • Support Agile delivery including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and prioritisation

Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Define test strategies, scenarios, and acceptance criteria

  • Lead UAT for finance systems, ensuring business sign-off and readiness

  • Validate that solutions meet functional, data, and reporting requirements

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure solutions comply with financial controls, audit requirements, and regulatory standards

  • Support documentation required for audit and governance reviews

  • Maintain strong control over financial data accuracy and reporting integrity

Personal Capability Building

  • Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.

  • Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending

  • conferences, and reading specialist media.

Requirements: Skills, Qualifications and Experience required:

  • 5 to 8 years’ experience in Business Analysis within Banking, Financial Services, or Insurance

  • Educatuonal Requirements - Relevant Degree or Diploma in Finance /Honours in Information Systems /Business Analysis OR Postgraduate Diploma in Business Analysis or similar is preferred

  • University short courses are advantageous

  • Strong experience with Oracle Hyperion (EPM/HFM) stack and/or Oracle ERP SAAS and/or Accurate (automating reconciliation knowledge), would be advantageous

  • Solid understanding of financial reporting, group consolidation, and finance controls

  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments

  • Proven capability in data analysis, solution design, testing, and stakeholder management

  • Life insurance industry experience preferred
