Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Business Architect to join our Group Finance: Operations & Enablement team in Cape Town. The role is responsible for shaping and optimising finance business processes, capabilities, and operating models to support strategic objectives and drive operational excellence. Working across business, technology, and product teams, the Business Architect will establish and maintain end-to-end process architectures, identify improvement opportunities, and ensure alignment between finance processes, data, and systems.Key Result Areas / Outputs:
Business Architecture Responsibilities
Develop and maintain end-to-end finance process architectures (e.g. record-to-report, procure-to-pay, order-to-cash)
Define and manage finance business capability models and value streams
Establish current-state and target-state process views to guide improvement
Identify cross-process inefficiencies, control gaps, and standardisation opportunities
Ensure alignment of finance processes across business units and platforms
Provide architectural input into prioritisation and sequencing of improvements
Maintain a holistic view of how processes, data, and systems interact across the finance landscape
Ensure alignment between finance processes and the application landscape, including Oracle ERP, Oracle EPM, Oracle HFM, Finance Data Warehouse, Accurate, IDU, and Workiva
Drive standardisation of process frameworks, taxonomy, and modelling approaches
Continuous Improvement & Optimisation
Proactively identify opportunities to enhance finance processes and operating models
Shape and structure improvement initiatives before they enter delivery pipelines
Support prioritisation in collaboration with Product, Business, and Platform Owners
Promote reuse, simplification, and reduction of process and system complexity
Stakeholder & Operating Model Alignment
Work closely with:
Product Owners – to shape and prioritise demand aligned to business architecture
Business Owners – to ensure process alignment to operational needs and outcomes
Platform Owners – to ensure optimal use of system capabilities
Facilitate alignment across stakeholders on target process and capability direction
Act as a bridge across business, product, and technology domains
Governance & Standards
Establish and maintain business architecture standards, frameworks, and artefacts
Ensure consistency and quality of process and capability definitions
Provide guidance and guardrails for process and system changes
Support structured demand shaping and ensure alignment to architectural principles
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Mininum Work Experience:
At least 6 years’ experience in finance business architecture, or process improvement
Experience working across finance systems, particularly Oracle ERP, Oracle EPM/HFM, or similar platforms
Exposure to finance data environments (e.g. data warehouses, reporting tools such as Workiva or IDU)
Experience with process modelling methodologies (e.g. BPMN)
Mininum Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in one of the following:
Finance / Accounting
Information Systems / Information Technology
Business Science / Commerce (with finance or systems focus)
Postgraduate qualification (advantageous, not required):
Honours degree in Finance, Information Systems, or Business Management
Postgraduate Diploma in Business Analysis, Enterprise Architecture, or Data Analytics
CIMA, CA(SA), or similar finance qualification (beneficial where role leans more finance-heavy)
Professional certification (advantageous, not required):
TOGAF (Foundation level or exposure)
Business Architecture certification (e.g. BIZBOK-aligned)
IIBA certifications (ECBA / CCBA)
