Job Description

The successful incumbent will be responsible for the end-to-end financial reporting function of the Blended Annuity product launching later this year. In addition, the person will play an indispensable oversight role in the launch of a multi-Currency general ledger.

Furthermore, the role is responsible for relationship building with the various stakeholders across the Wealth Segment, other parties related to the products and helping to foster and grow the relationships into a healthy and mature state. The management and development of people in the team is imperative. The role will report to the Senior Review manager overseeing the area.

The role requires solid technical skills, practical understanding of financial data and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams, with a focus on accurate execution, monitoring, and operational control of the product offerings.

The successful incumbent is accountable for achieving results through self and others.

Key responsibilities will include amongst others the following:

Specific Key Results:

  • Monitors internal controls and reporting on controls and processes, as well as recommending and implementing amendments to internal controls where appropriate.
  • Manages external audit for the LIFE policyholder ledgers.
  • Ensure that investment reconciliations and bank reconciliations are performed correctly.
  • Performs the full end-to-end accounting function for the product.
  • Investigates and provides commentary on any A-L mismatches that may arise.
  • Reviews reports to external parties as required and presents the financial position to clients and other stakeholders.
  • Responsible for the process ownership of key accounting processes on behalf of the wider business, and thus champion the implementation, measurement, and improvement of these processes.
  • Provides the required support to the Shareholder team.

Reporting

  • Manages external audits of products and ensures issues are resolved.
  • Prepares and performs review of critical control accounts.

Team Effectiveness

  • Balances own priorities with directing and motivating others
  • Individually accountable for others’ time, tasks, and output quality, over periods of up to three months.
  • Supervises a team of Fund Accountants.

Qualifications and Experience required:

  • Financial tertiary education (B Com, B.Compt. etc.)
  • Articles will be an added advantage. 
  • Management experience of at least 3-5 years will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to interact at all levels with staff and stakeholders.
  • Strong, organising and time-management skills.
  • Good application of business principles.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple products simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
