Job Description

Responsible for complex modelling calculations and analysis. Designs, constructs and documents appropriate models across the organisation. Continuously researches and assesses new processes for model development and enhancement.

Responsibilities

Data Collection and Analysis

Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.

Data Exploration, Insights and Reporting

Produce accurate reports for stakeholders by collecting data from a variety of standard sources and inputting that data into standard formats.

Advanced and Predictive Analytics

Support interpretation and time series stracking of advanced and predictive analytical data, using specialized software tools and functionalities.

Risk Scenario Modelling

Support the analysis and assessment of model risks to determine whether these models perform as expected and within specific monitoring thresholds. Developing automated monitoring reports across model suite.

Information and Business Advice

Resolve complex queries from internal or external customers or suppliers by providing information on policies and/or procedures, referring the most complex issues to others.

Business Performance Metrics

Conduct standardized tasks related to tracking and updating business/model performance metrics in line with the organization's established protocols.

Operational Compliance

Develop knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct to ensure own work adheres to those standards. Obtain authorization from a supervisor or manager for any exceptions from mandatory procedure.

Personal Capability Building

Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching. Develop and maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree in Stats/Math/Applied Maths/Financial Risk Management/Data Science/Engineering/Computer Science or related disciplines.

  • Minimum 1 year of working or post-graduate experience in data insight, or predictive analytics.

  • SQL or SAS proficiency.

  • R or Python proficiency.

  • Exposure to extracting data from databases is preferable.

  • Exposure to bureau data is advantageous

Key metrics and success indicators:

  • Develop automated model monitoring processes for all models developed within the model development team.

  • Work closely with Data/IT teams for the implementation of account management models.

  • Keeping clear and concise code pertaining to data extraction, preparation, and collation for the purposes model development and monitoring.

  • Understanding the impact that degradation/improvement in model performance has on the business and how business decisions impact model performance over time.

  • Maintaining detailed technical documentation pertaining to all models that are developed and monitored.

  • Assisting with the governance process to obtain approval for new and enhanced models at technical committees and model approval committees.

  • Presenting analytical results and proposals to both technical and non-technical committees and providing commentary as required.

  • Continuously seeking ways to improve the modelling methodologies, keeping in mind any/all imposed limitations within the credit lifecycle.

  • Conducting team knowledge sharing sessions on latest work completed.

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with business stakeholders across the Credit Lifecyle.

  • Providing project specific insights to main stakeholders on a regular basis.
