Job Purpose
To lead the development and execution of client-focused events, sponsorships, and engagement initiatives that support the Personal and Private Banking strategy, strengthen client relationships, and drive business growth. The role is accountable for translating strategic objectives into innovative and impactful experiences that enhance client acquisition, retention, and brand affinity. Through a deep understanding of client behaviour, market trends, and stakeholder needs, the incumbent will deliver differentiated experiences, build strategic partnerships, and ensure measurable commercial and client outcomes.
Job Responsibilities
- Conceptualise and execute event concepts in line with business requirements.
- Negotiate sponsorship properties and drive effective leveraging thereof through influencing, advising, and guiding internal stakeholders.
- Deliver on the efficiencies and effectiveness of the Events and Sponsorships function.
- Enable measurement of Return on Marketing Investment (ROMI) through post-event analysis and reconciliation.
- Create cost efficiencies in line with Group Procurement Policy through supplier research, evaluation, and negotiation.
- Ensure budgets are effectively managed and financial risks mitigated.
- Embed and strengthen client relationships through meaningful engagement opportunities.
- Maintain brand consistency by ensuring all eventing and sponsorship activities align with business and Group Marketing strategies.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders by building effective business partnerships.
- Create and ensure alignment of event activities through collaboration across divisions, regions, and clusters.
- Create differentiation and maintain market competitiveness by monitoring industry trends and competitor activities.
- Drive continuous improvement and client satisfaction.
- Provide fit-for-purpose event management advice and thought leadership.
- Identify strategic event and sponsorship opportunities that support business objectives.
- Deliver unique, appropriate, and market-leading event experiences for clients and stakeholders.
- Manage key operational and business risks.
- Ensure delivery of projects in line with business objectives, marketing strategy, deadlines, and budgets.
- Keep stakeholders informed through ongoing communication and reporting.
- Ensure event activities are effectively coordinated across business units.
- Evaluate events and experiences to ensure ongoing success, optimization, and value creation.
- Review supplier and agency performance to ensure high service standards.
- Ensure compliance with governance requirements and risk frameworks.
- Drive operational excellence and foster a culture of innovation and knowledge sharing within the team.
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
- Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
Preferred Qualification
- Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in Marketing, Commerce, Arts, Communications, Event Management, or a related field.
Demonstrated portfolio of successful events, sponsorships, client engagement, or experiential marketing initiatives
Minimum Experience Level
- 8 - 10 years' experience in events, sponsorships, client engagement, experiential marketing, or related disciplines, with demonstrated experience leading large-scale, high-profile events and programmes.
- Proven experience translating strategic objectives into successful execution and measurable business outcomes.
- Strong understanding of client experience, client behaviour, and relationship management within a complex corporate or financial services environment.
- Experience managing external partnerships, sponsorships, agencies, suppliers, and senior stakeholder relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to identify innovative opportunities, challenge conventional thinking, and deliver differentiated client experiences.
- Previous people leadership and team management experience.
