About this role

JOB PURPOSE

Assume responsibility for support and production of all business information through the collation and analysis of data to support management making effective business decisions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1.    Underwriting support

 

a.      Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal data assets to support pricing and other modelling initiatives.
b.    Withdrawal of assessors cost per month.
c.    Building data sets
d.    Support rate book uploads
e.    Testing rate books on GW
f.    Maintenance of the admin files, VDC tables, crops, districts, transferring of segmentation, and loyalty 
g.    Assist with general support relating to enquiries regarding data.
h.    Preparing reports for the management stating trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data and making it easily interpretable.
i.    Build and maintain a dashboard to enable faster and more effective decision making by all managers.

 

2.    Business Information

 

a.    Data integrity: Assists in and identify areas and fields to maintain and improve data integrity of policies written. This will be for both the I Series as well as for Guidewire.
b.    Data Analysis: Maintain the different tables, aid in implement changes in transitioning tables to conform with Guidewire requirements. 
c.    Regular testing of data to ensure the correct data is used for reporting,
d.    Business Information: Compiling of all the present tables (data to information) and assist in designing new and improved data sets and BI tools to be implemented under Guidewire.
e.    Liaising with programmers. to ensure data sets are 1) accurate, 2) useable and 3) always available.

 

3.    Insurance Support

 

a.    Assisting insurance support with the investigation and possible changes to policies and claims that is not aligned with our rules. Looking for possible duplicates.
b.    Assist in farm GPS points verification. This is incorrect points, where verification and a survey are required.
c.    Supporting the policy and claims departments to point out irregularities by testing of data. (E.g. Duplicate policies).

4.    Statistical information

a.    The understanding and maintaining the stats tables to reflect a consistent and accurate information for the users. 
b.    Compiling weekly stats – Weekly underwriting report, claims report, Form stats ROA (Utilising the different sources of data, GW and AS400, to compile accurate reports)
c.    Ensure claims data is linked to brokers, Area managers and linked correctly to the crop.

 

5.    Distribution support

 

a.    To assist in general enquiries internally and externally. Availability of crops and rates in specific polygons.
b.    Transfer of segmentation of clients. To maintain entity changes and consolidation of entities.
c.    To link farms and clients to Area managers.
d.    Linking of Area managers to regions
e.    Driving a data driven culture by training area managers on the effective use of data to make decisions by training them on effectively using data in pivots etc.
f.    Assisting area managers and brokers on Guidewire use regarding rating and underwriting issues.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Post graduate degree in numerical science, e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial, Data Science
  • At least 3 years working experience in an analytical role    
  • Knowledge of and experience with QlikView and Qlik Sense reporting packages
  • Advanced skills in Excel
