Purpose of Job
Lead and govern the end‑to‑end condition monitoring programme for all rotating equipment, ensuring early fault detection, improved reliability, and optimal asset availability. Provide technical expertise in vibration monitoring, rotating equipment instrumentation, machinery protection systems, anti‑surge control, and overspeed protection.
Own and manage the OPEX budget, support the rolling CAPEX plan, oversee contractors, and ensure SAP‑based planning, execution, and reporting.
Collaborate closely with Reliability Engineering and supervise condition monitoring artisans to drive continuous improvement and safe, cost‑effective performance
Key Accountabilities
Lead the predictive and proactive maintenance programmes for all rotating equipment.
Ensure standardisation of condition monitoring processes, techniques, instrumentation, databases, and reporting.
Provide subject‑matter expertise in rotating equipment instrumentation, including vibration systems and machinery protection platforms.
Oversee diagnostics and performance of anti‑surge systems and real‑time monitoring technology.
Ensure proper governance and monitoring of overspeed protection systems as part of equipment trip logic.
Review and analyse condition monitoring data to identify early‑stage defects and recommend corrective actions.
Lead and participate in root cause failure analysis (RCFA) for major failures or recurring defects.
Support commissioning and post‑overhaul verification of rotating equipment, including field balancing and alignment checks.
Budgeting, CAPEX & Commercial Governance
Own and manage the OPEX budget for condition monitoring; track budget vs actuals and drive cost control per cost element.
Contribute to the rolling CAPEX plan, including asset replacement, improvement projects, and technology upgrades.
Manage inventory and spares strategies for all CM tools, sensors, and instrumentation equipment.
Oversee service providers, evaluate technical competence, manage contracts, and ensure SLA compliance.
Implement cost‑effective reliability and maintenance solutions aligned to business priorities.
Systems, Reporting & Process Control
Use SAP PM for planning, execution, notifications, work orders, and asset history management.
Drive the transition to online and real‑time asset health monitoring systems across the complex.
Manage and govern the oil analysis programme, ensuring standardisation and follow‑up actions.
Conduct audits on CM execution, reporting, data quality, and follow‑up on non‑conformances.
People Management & Collaboration
Supervise and coach condition monitoring artisans, ensuring high-quality work and safe practices.
Work closely with Reliability Engineers, Mechanical/Instrumentation teams, and Operations to resolve deviations and implement long‑term improvements.
Provide training, mentorship, and knowledge‑sharing for teams involved in rotating equipment maintenance.
Build strong relationships with Operations, Maintenance, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on equipment health priorities.
Safety, Risk & Compliance
Ensure all CM activities comply with SHE requirements, legal standards, and safe work practices.
Apply risk management principles and maintain risk visibility for critical rotating equipment.
Formal Education
National Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation) with 10+ years relevant experience
OR
University Bachelor degree with 6+ years relevant experience
OR
Postgraduate Diploma in Engineering / Business / Management (Preferred)
